| A 14m (45feet) high, stone pineapple which was designed as a garden retreat in 1732. Set in 16 acres of garden, woodlands and a pond. Pineapples were grown in Scotland and were a popular feature of many gardens in the second half of the 18th Century. On the South side of the wall, pineapples grew in hothouses which were heated by furnaces. | |||
